Tired of getting outbid on eBay for that timeworn copy of the No New York Compilation on vinyl? Fans of hard-to-find punk records need not pay huge "first-issue" prices on rare vinyl any longer.
ZE Records, originally founded in 1978, who put out no-wave groups such as Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, The Contortions, Suicide, and Mars, to name a few, are back after a twenty year hiatus. Founded by Michael Zilkha and Michel Esteban, ZE Records was voice of the New York no-wave scene of the late seventies and early eighties.
Now ZE is back, re-issuing their entire original catalog. (Anyone who took advantage of the (illegal?) re-pressing of the 99 Records ESG vinyl can understand the importance of this). Consequently, many of the groups from the original ZE catalog are playing gigs and touring, including Lydia Lunch, and James Chance.
ZE is also adding some new acts to its catalog and are currently shopping for bands. Michael Dracula of Glasgow Scotland are the first group to sign to the re-vamped ZE. No-Wavers take note!
